Striking the right balance between spiritual excavation and pure relaxation can sometimes seem like a trade-off. But the 5-Day Amankora Journey shows that time is no object to depth. Although Bhutan’s topography is guided by rugged landscape and remote valley upon less-discovered valley stretching as far as the eye can see, this finely-tuned circuit favours the “Golden Triangle” Paro, Thimphu and Punakha. By focusing on these three unique areas, you get to see the nation’s most legendary spiritual landmarks and architectural wonders without the wear-and-tear of nonstop road travel.
This is not simply a Bhutan Luxury Short Trip this is immersion in high definition to the soul of the Kingdom. You go from the lively cultural heart of the capital to the subtropical haven of Punakha’s rice terraces in just five days, and it ends with that legendary climb to Tiger’s Nest. Each mile you travel is cushioned by the unparalleled hospitality of Amankora, and while beyond your enclaves the world is ancient and harsh, on your journey it is effortlessly classy and profoundly healing.
Aman Kora, unlike single-hotel stays, ropes intimate lodges through Paro, Thimphu and Punakha, so there’s an easy continuum from one to another where every property feels like home, not yet another check-in.
Clean lines, natural stone and ample windows framing misty mountains marry contemporary luxury with local craftsmanship in all of the spaces, so that they become serene sanctuaries paying tribute to Bhutan’s spiritual core.
The staff sense your rhythms: hot tea magically precedes your asking, alone time happens without prompting, and the guides are confidants who share the monastery’s secrets and the whispers of culture.
Forest paths take you to private suites, empty trails reveal secret gifts and valley transfers disappear, becoming an effortless enchantment in which you can fall into the arms of nature without needing to confront the world.
Savvy pacing affords presence over checklists, mellifluous Tiger’s Nest access, pensive Punakha riverside saunters and Thimphu market meanders, making one’s way a deep recharge.
Intimate Moments: Family blessings, village rhythms and monastery rituals are all part of the package, far off tourist trails inside peaks, Bhutan’s heart unveiled thanks to Aman’s centuries-old connections.
We also believe that the journey to Tiger’s Nest Monastery should be as breathtaking as the monastery itself. That is why we have transformed luxury trekking in Bhutan. We understand that it is not merely a trek added to the travel experience, it is the essence of an expertly designed trekking experience for the discerning travelers.
We artfully intertwine world-class adventure with the comfort that only Aman-level resorts offer. Envision hiking along historic, serene trails with only the lightest backpack, knowing that the luxury camp is already waiting for you. You’ll stay in plush, spacious accommodations and be fueled with meals prepared by a chef, then you’ll get the guiding that not only puts you on top but also makes sure your time on our public land has helped further orient and connect you to the landscape and experience.
We fine-tune every aspect, allowing you to focus not just on the experience, the adventure, and the excitement, but also the spiritual meaning behind the hike.
Truth be told: not every trip is for everyone. This is a journey for a particular kind of traveler. Here's a quick quiz to help determine whether you and this journey were meant to be.

We think that an enriching experience can only be measured by its depth and not by its number of days. This is because our 5-day Aman Kora tour in Bhutan has been specifically crafted for those travelers who want to have an in-depth exposure to Bhutan despite not having two whole weeks at hand.
We achieve this through intelligent planning and unique services. Your itinerary involves an absolutely rational sequence of visits that links all the major highlights of the city without repetition. Throughout your visit, you will be accompanied by a personal guide and driver.
We don't rush you through your day, making sure to carve in time to unwind and reflect. Most importantly, we create exclusive access and thoughtful details that make for a deep sense of place, turning even the shortest trip into a memory. And for the discerning traveler, luxury is, above all, a matter of quality over quantity.
Imagine a journey designed just for the two of you, for example, private guiding that allows the space to enjoy each other as well as catch all the perfect moments, candlelit dinners with valley mists in the background or carefully designed room settings with fresh flowers and Bhutanese prayers. Slower days allow love to develop on its own terms: lazy mornings in bed, sunset strolls hand in hand, or visits to monasteries designed exclusively for the couple. In the serenity of Punakha by the river and Paro in its woods, romance becomes a naturally intended destination.
Wellness is integral to Aman Kora’s design. Envision yourself having exclusive leisure time at each of the lodges with traditional hot stone baths heated with minerals from the river, or optional yoga classes conducted on the Terraces with sunrise views. More leisurely mornings allow for journaling at the window seat, introspection around the prayer flags, or meditating with views of the sacred rivers. Visits to the monastery have spiritual undertones, time for your own mantra chanting around ancient paintings.
But for those who want to hike, insert easy pine forest walks or full-day hikes to deserted viewpoints. Sunrise chases on high passes, or monastery silhouettes against golden-hour backdrops, evolve into your art, and because of free time, wait times are possible. Add more nature hours: afternoons spent at lodges can be swapped with exploratory hikes or extend Tiger's Nest hikes for wide-angle scenery. Focus shifts not only from lodge hours but also from valley scenery to landscapes in which every step can be enjoyable and motivational.
Independent travelers find deep privacy with security integrated private guides who value reflective contemplation but inspire engaging discussions with locals. Parents with kids adjust their travel to suit kids' vitality, shared room arrangements and activities combining adventure and cultural experiences.
Families with multiple generations appreciate the flexibility: easier walks for grandparents, engaging stories for little ones, and meals served together as a family unit. The itinerary matches the pace and interest of your group and fosters shared memories across multiple age groups while being adjustable to specific needs.
Are you ready to tailor your own Aman Kora experience? Just let us know your preferred time of year (spring blooms or autumn clarity?), approximate length of stay (our favorite 5-day experience or longer exploration?), and your travel style relaxed and rejuvenating, balanced discovery, or gentle exploration with photography breaks. Tell us if you're celebrating a honeymoon, birthday, anniversary, wellness retreat, or solo retreat. And at Classic Vacations Nepal, we listen and then craft an experience that's all your own.
Our Low-Pressure Process kicks off with a friendly consultation – email correspondence and/or quick phone chat – so we can grasp your plans. We develop a Customized Draft Tour itinerary featuring Aman Kora resorts, valley orders, and customized improvements (romantic meal options, spa-oriented, kid-friendly). Discuss the plan, propose adjustments, and expect an Improved Offer. We seamlessly take over visa, booking, and pre-trip logistics while you unwind. Your Bhutan Experience Unpackaged starts with One Quick Message.

At Classic Vacations Nepal, we also think that the authentic luxury experience in Bhutan can be derived from the depth of evolution and familiarity with living culture, and not merely from the polish of a luxurious environment. From our 23 years of experience and our strong and ingrained association with the Kingdom, we give our visitors an entry that few other people have enjoyed, and something that is entirely beyond the grasp of the ordinary tourist.
While it's usually the case that visitors act merely as observers of rituals, our services can be associated very closely with spirituality.
Private Audiences: We arrange private audiences either with senior Rinpoches or with the Abbot of Monasteries for blessings and in-depth philosophical talks.
After Hours Access to Monasteries: Feel the complete silence that fills the most sacred places of Bhutan. This is where we can arrange a visit to selected Temples either before their opening hours or after their closing hours so that you can meditate and feel the serenity amidst complete silence that a crowd could have generated.
Butter Lamp Ceremonies: Participate in private prayers where the lighting of hundreds of traditional butter lamps increases the meditation ambiance exclusively available to members of your group.
Classic Vacations Nepal unlocks private homes and untold historical secrets that make up the Kingdom's legacy.
Private Family Altars: Visit ancestral houses of Khoi nobility with privileged access to private family altars, architectural gems which are only accessible by the highest-ranking elders.
The "Secret" Punakha Farmhouse: Our experience in Punakha is at a traditional farmhouse once devoted to the Royal Family. This vegetable-dye-painted wall photographing a three-story edifice (from the Dzongka must see this post), is your very own speck of a dining and reflection space, too much history to recollect while being alone in a room.
We look forward to involving you in our Bhutanese holy valleys. Please note, should you like, that at times our mountains, helicopter flights, and/or Mother Nature demand an alternative plan in the interest of your well-being first, of course. Thank you for your understanding in this regard.
Our Commitments:
- Adhere to the original intended luxury experience
- Inform you immediately of any changes and alternatives
- The compromise between your Aman Kora dream and comfort and security.
Classic Vacations Nepal puts your fun and safety first. Our experienced team ensures quality service at all Aman Kora lodges. Guides reserve the right to vary or cancel activities due to weather conditions or altitude concerns. Flexibility adds to, never detracts from, your journey.
Responsible and Sustainable Luxury Travel
Our impact: By collaborating with non-profit Himalayan preservation groups, we ensure your high-end travel helps protect the region, which helps protect the king for generations.

Go to the National Memorial Chorten and see the Buddha Dordenma.
Dinner with a forest view in the evening at the lodge.
Your arrival at Paro International Airport introduces you to your Amankora chauffeur and guide, and they will take you off into the misty landscape following the Wang Chhu River to Thimphu. Upon entry into this capital city of this enchanting Kingdom, the experience is leisurely. Your tour begins at the enormous Golden Buddha Dordenma, perched at the top of this valley, and followed by the National Memorial Chorten, where elderly Bhutanese people deep in meditation turn the wheels of their religious prayers.
Tucked away in a serene blue pine forest in the Motithang district, Amankora Thimphu is like a fortress from the future. Designed as a contemporary replica of the classic Dzong architecture, characteristic of Bhutanese Buddhist monastery-fortresses, the Amankora Thimphu is constructed to have white-washed stone walls and lofty ceilings. In your room, you have wood-clad walls, an enormous king-size bed, and a classic bukhari (wood-fire combustion chamber) that is lit for you by the staff at bedtime. What you will love is the massive terrazzo bathtub that is situated just beside the window through which you can enjoy the swaying pines.

Morning visit to the Textile Museum and Takin Preserve.
Scenic drives over the 3,100m Dochula Pass (108 Memorial Chortens).
Descent into the subtropical Punakha Valley.
Afternoon tea in an ancient royal farmhouse.
After a leisurely breakfast, you will take in some of the culture of Thimphu by visiting either the National Library or the Takin Preserve to catch a glimpse of Bhutan's very unique national animal. Then the drive to Punakha begins. You will cross the famous Dochula Pass; on a clear day, the entire Himalayan range can be spotted behind 108 snow-capped stupas. From here, as you descend into Punakha, the air thickens, and the landscape shifts to lush rice terraces and orange orchards. Today, you will end with a soft walk to the "Temple of Fertility" (Chimi Lhakhang) before heading to your sanctuary.
This is arguably the most singularly unique lodge in the circuit. To get to it, one has to walk across a suspension bridge draped in prayer flags across the Mo Chhu River. The lodge itself is built around a traditional farmhouse once owned by a former Chief Abbot of Bhutan. It only has eight suites in it and is, therefore, incredibly intimate. The rooms are identical in comfort to Thimphu but have views of rice paddies and orange groves. There is a stunning infinity pool that looks out over the valley, a perfect spot for a cocktail at sunset.

Next, you will head towards the direction of the town of Paro. Throughout this journey, you will witness the change in the landscape, which ranges from the valleys to the alpine forests found in the town of Paro.
Located deep in a blue pine forest, near the ruins of Drukgyel Dzong, the Paro lodge is the biggest as well as the most majestic of all the resorts. The design incorporates rammed earth, as well as enormous glass panels, which allow the forest to be right inside. The ambiance here is exceedingly zen, with no TVs, which nudges you to listen to the wind in the pine forests. The spa facility in this lodge is among the best, with scented sauna rooms and personal spa rooms, which allow you to enjoy a free Himalayan salt scrub and oil massage.

This is definitely the best part of the journey. Here, you will trek to Taktsang (Tiger's Nest) Monastery, which is a 900-meter hike above the valley's floor. This exercise will be done at your leisure with an Aman guide, who will provide you with refreshments during this journey. This monastery visit is a significant spiritual experience. After, you'll head to the temple of Kyichu Lhakhang from the 7th century to light butter lamps. Your last night in the kingdom of Bhutan shall be spent back in the Lodge. You can enjoy a cultural performance or Dinner around the campfire.
Tonight, relaxation is the priority. After your hike, the hotel staff will arrange for a Bhutanese Hot Stone Bath. Special Touches:
Amankora has formally proved its credentials as the gastronomic pulse of the Himalayas through its very own Michelin-starred guest chef residency. Chiefly based at the Thimphu lodge, this seasonal event invites international chefs to the Kingdom of Bhutan and pairs them up with Aman's very own local chefs. Typically taking place during the lush latter summer and autumn season (months of July, August, and September), this culinary program turns the dining experience into an 'Degustation' affair.
The series is expected to showcase the uniqueness of high-altitude ingredients in Bhutan, ranging from hand-harvested matsutake mushrooms, yak milk, and organic mountain honey, using expert culinary techniques.
Renowned Talent: Former residents include noted talent such as Bryce Shuman (former of Betony, New York), Joshua Brown (CUT by Wolfgang Puck), and the acclaimed Shinobu Namae of L'Effervescence in Tokyo.
Culinary Fusion: Every menu in both restaurants will be 'one-of-a-kind' culinary fusion, where French or Japanese culinary styles are incorporated in the ancient 'Kingdom' flavors in a sophisticated international manner.
“An exceptional destination,” Amankora Bhutan has two MICHELIN Keys in 2025. Really, any award associated with Michelin is the kind of honour that’s so insane to receive as an institution, not solely because it reflects how fancy your establishment is, but also because it speaks to what you are and “your ability to offer experiences that are truly unique.” The only thing that can earn a Michelin Star for an establishment is an institution’s culinary skills.

With all these factors in mind, you will know precisely what you require in your dream vacation at Aman Kora.
There are a few factors determining the package value during the planning of any Aman Kora luxury trip in Bhutan; therefore, we cannot quote an exact price. The main elements of the package value are:
Category of Accommodation-Lodge Aman Exclusivity
Aman resorts are five‑star properties known for their privacy, design, and personalised service.
The stay in these exclusive lodges will naturally place the package at the premium end of Bhutan travel.
Group Size – Solo vs Couples vs Small Groups
Solo travellers pay more per person because of no cost sharing.
Shared transfers and guides also ensure a much lower per‑person rate for couples and small groups.
Seasonal Demand - Festival Periods
Colourful festivals also round out Bhutan's appeal to visitors from around the world, putting pressure on limited lodge space.

In ultra-luxury travel, there is no greater convenience than peace of mind. The experience is crafted to feel like a single, seamless sanctuary even as your five-day journey takes in the varied vistas of Thimphu, Punakha and Paro. And we are able to do this thanks to the Aman Service Standard, which is applied in every facet of your trip.
And as you shake off lodges, there is no disturbance of your world. This is the "Unpack Once" philosophy at work:
Seamless Transitions: Once you drop your bags outside the door of your suite, you won’t see them until they are beautifully settled into your new location. Our staff are responsible for all inter-lodge luggage porterage, which is 'out of sight!
Integrated Guest Profiling: Your personal preferences are never repeated. Whether it is a special dietary need, favorite room temperature, or even how you take your tea in the mornings, your "Guest Profile" accompanies you. Should you prefer an extra feathered pillow, this is conveyed through the team in Thimphu, and it will be placed in your bed at Punakha and Paro.
A Single Narrative: Since your personal guide and driver, who are contracted through Classic Vacations Nepal, accompany you throughout the trip, you do not experience awkward transition situations. This is a single story that you are enacting, one that is handled by a team that already understands your pace and interests.
Organising an ultra-luxury getaway to Bhutan needs to be meticulously designed and professionally handled. We at Classic Vacations Nepal take the hassle out of booking, so you can simply look forward to your trip. With 23-year of experience we ensure that every logistical detail, from visa permits to private Aman Kora lodge reservations, is handled with extra care.
A visit to Bhutan always requires some sort of planning regarding any visas and other documents needed before the trip, and of course, the majority of the visitors always decide to hire a licensed tour operator in Bhutan so that the processes can be hassle-free. Processing any visas is now something you can do on your own as of 2025, while the rest is always the responsibility of the tour operator.
This is how the process normally works with our involvement:
Share Your Information: It involves scanning copies of your passport and filling out details about yourself and your travel dates and needs, such as your hotel preferences or activities you are interested in.
Prepare and Submit an Application: We will handle the submission of visas and permits in your behalf, through the official Bhutanese immigrations system or as may be required, as well as the submission of your travel itinerary.
Payment Coordination: Fees such as visa fees and the Sustainable Development Fee (SDF) are factored into and handled through your travel arrangement and are therefore not needed to be completed through separate online platforms for payment.
Get Approval: Once this is done, you will be sent your visa clearance or entry permit confirmation, which is necessary for check-in procedures at the airline as well as on the date of entry into the country.
The major international airport for Bhutan is Paro International Airport. Flights from Paro are restricted and are sometimes operated through other regional airports, as well as from other international airports in the region, via Drukair and Bhutan Airlines.
Sometimes fliers will route through Kathmandu (KTM) or some other regional center before continuing to fly into Paro. At all times, early reservation is essential since the airlines must have your visa clearance number before they can provide you with a ticket.
How we help: We arrange flight options to suit your dates of travel and itinerary, then check schedules and connecting flights to link flights with the permit documents. This ensures that all this stays in sync so that you are not left organizing flights around your dates of travel.
Practical Advice: Instead, far from offering dogmatic airline regulations, consider this a planning aid, and we will advise you accordingly regarding routing and scheduling in order to integrate well with your travel experience in Bhutan.
The landscape and culture of Bhutan undergo an ever beautiful transformation throughout the years. Every season gives you a unique experience during your visit. The spring season (March to May) and autumn season (September to November) are the best times for you to visit Bhutan. The clear sky and beautiful landscapes of the mountain ranges make these times ideal for sightseeing and taking pictures. The spring season is the time when the valley is filled with flowers and greenery. Autumn is when the sky is clear and clean, along with the beautiful landscape contrasts of the mountains.
There are also periods between these peak seasons where it’s less crowded or softly lit, and still worth exploring. Summer (June to August) is characterized by an abundant landscape and peaceful environment, with higher chances of rainfall and some trails being soggy or marshy due to heavy rain.
There can be less activity in the winter months, that is, December, January, and February, but the higher passes receive snow, so the lower valleys are open, which provides a peaceful environment for traveling.
There are festivals like the famous Paro Tshechu in the spring and the Thimphu Tshechu in the autumn that usually coincide with these times of the peak season.
Because every moment counts on a condensed journey, your private guide is the cornerstone of our experience, turning what could be a beautiful hike into a deep personal journey. We work with only the most respected local guides who serve not only as your cultural interpreter but also as your exclusive facilitator and intuitive curator.
This expert not only shows the way but can also open the doors to the destination. They can arrange access to the monastery courtyards for alone time, organize an encounter with the monks, which can only last for a brief moment, and then go on to convey so much more than the bunch of words spoken in the presence of the ancient walls, which reverberate through the laughter and the tears of a thousand summers gone by.
With this expert, it is not a matter of visiting Bhutan, but instead getting a glimpse into its inner heart and soul.
When you have only five days there, every minute worrying about a permit or suitcase is a moment stolen from the magic of the Himalayas. Our "Single Responsibility" model means you can concentrate on the beauty and awe of your kingdom, leaving us to do the complex stuff behind the scenes.
Unlike Standard tours which will drop you in the valleys to be escorted by a series of drivers or local representatives, throughout your travels, one thing remains constant: Your private guide and driver.
A Continuous Narrative: Your guide learns what you like from Day 1, so there's no need to repeat, ever. They effectively are your cultural diplomat, adjusting the itinerary to your energy levels.
Trust: You will know your team well by the time you get to Tiger's Nest on Day 4 and they know you. They're friends and confidants who can tell your tea preferences and whether to push you during the trek and other things like that.
Perfect Logistics: Your own car is now “a sanctuary on wheels” that has been “meticulously prepared and filled each day” with “your favourite drinks.”
At Aman, we believe that you should never need to think about your bags or any related arrangements from the moment you depart from your residence and return to it.
In regard to moving your bags, we operate what we call the “Aman to Aman”
Discreet Handling: Your suitcases are taken from your Thimphu Room and arrive in your Punakha Room even before you do.
Zero Wait Check-ins: Since we control the whole circuit, there are no front desk check-in procedures. You simply move into your new lodge as you continue your “Unpack Once” experience.
Permit Coordination: From toll booths to monastery entrance fees, all paperwork has to be pre-cleared and taken care of by your guide so that you get to go through all gates as VIPs.
As the only individuals responsible for your experience, we are able to coordinate occurrences to resemble magical moments happening organically, but, in fact, they are the result of a tremendous amount of planning and execution going on behind the scenes.
Gourmet Anywhere: Whether a white-tablecloth picnic by the river Mo Chhu or surprised by a tea offering at a high point, all of these arrangements will be carried out by your own staff.
No Wasted Moments: Flight times, weather, and monasteries’ schedules are monitored in real-time automatically, and your itinerary will change in an instant if we need to avoid crowds or get better light for photo shots.
Total Immersion: By eliminating the "noise" associated with travel, namely the transitions, confusion, and frustrations that come with it, we give you a seamless window of comfort.
However, the ultraluxe client has something much more valuable. Time is the most valuable currency that the ultraluxe client owns. Although the roads in Bhutan can be very picturesque, the “Aman to Aman” helicopter transfer experience can turn what would otherwise be a requirement into an experience to remember.
With this 5-day itinerary, every single minute matters. Amankora has arranged for the support of the Royal Bhutan Helicopter Service to get around the distance between the valleys. While it will take 3 hours driving through the mountains from Thimphu to Punakha, you will only take 20 minutes to get there by helicopter, and this will enable you to get your half-day of down time that will take you from meditation in the morning in Thimphu to an Infinity pool lunch in Punakha that will not be interrupted by the journey through the road from Thimphu to Punakha.
Speed: Approximately 20 minutes from Thimphu to Punakha, while approximately 50 minutes from Paro to Punakha
Eye-level perspective of the Himalayas and close-ups of monasteries such as Tiger's Nest that are situated on cliffs.
Experience: Door-to-door luxury where you alight on helipads in local landing sites and are received by your Amankora chauffeur.
The helicopter experience is inextricably woven into the Amankora experience. There is no "going to the airport": instead, you are taken to private landing areas such as Lungtenphu (Thimphu) or Zomlingthang (Punakha). Your personal guide is the one constant in the journey: he meets you at the landing area with your car loaded up. This is the ultimate in the "Aman Journey," which has a seamless high-altitude sequence: the transition is as beautiful as the destination.
Tigers Nest Monastery Hike in Bhutan 2025
The trek is not that difficult, and it usually takes around 4-5 hours for a round trip, depending on your speed. We do it on Day 4, so by now you are acclimatising to the altitude. Your guide supplies walking poles and water, and lots of encouragement along the way.
The Bhutanese monasteries have a dress code, and it's 'respectful' attire, aka covered shoulders, covered knees. We suggest layers, a nice shirt or jumper and slacks/long skirt. You will also be asked to remove your shoes before going into certain parts of the temples.
Yes, as a result of Classic Vacations Nepal's exclusive connections, we can arrange a private audience for a blessing or for a spiritual teaching discussion. These interviews are dependant on the availability of the monks and treated with great respect. It is often described as the most emotional aspect of the voyage.
It is a traditional therapy and healing practice with these stones being heated in the fire and placed into the tub of wood with bunches of medicinal herbs. The minerals from the stones and the heat from the water combine to relax weary muscles. It's the ideal recovery after you hike to the Tiger's Nest.
Bhutanese food in general is notorious for being hot, but Amankora chefs know how to tweak the spice levels for foreign palettes. You can savour the national dish, Ema Datshi, without it setting your mouth on fire. International and local cuisine is also offered at each mealtime.
But most visitors acclimate just fine since Thimphu and Paro are situated at mid-range altitudes of about 2,300 meters. We build the first couple of days of your trip as a "slow-start," so your body can adjust to the altitude on its own.

Your leader holds a basic first aid qualification, and our 24-hour ground operations team supports your team. In cases of emergency or serious illness, we work with the best medical facilities in Thimphu or Paro. We also highly recommend that all clients purchase full coverage travel insurance, including emergency evacuation.

The currency is the Ngultrum (BTN), which is pegged to the Indian Rupee. Your all-inclusive tour does not include souvenirs or personal purchases. Amankora lodges and higher-end shops in Thimphu and Paro accept major credit cards.
The simple "Kuzuzapnbo La" (Hello) followed by a little bow is the traditional and polite greeting to locals. Bhutanese are very friendly people and will smile and talk to you the minute they see a foreigner. When you add the suffix La is a sign of respect and is helpful when trying to learn about its culture.
