Kailash Mansarovar Yatra From India for Indians Overview

More than a journey, the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra package from India has brought together Hindu devotees throughout the world for thousands of years and offered an opportunity for incredible spiritual transformation. Mount Kailash has immense significance in our ancient Hindu scriptures, the Skanda Purana, Vishnu Purana, and Shiva Purana. It's perceived as the cosmic axis of the universe and is the sacred mountain on which Lord Shiva eternally meditates in the presence of his beloved Goddess Parvati. Completing this Yatra is the fulfillment of a lifetime of faith and devotion for all who are Hindu, Jain, Buddhist, and Bon.

Our 14-Day Group-Join Package is only for Indians and departs from Kathmandu, Nepal and takes you on the most convenient, fastest, and spiritually complete route possible. The journey begins with a flight from India to Kathmandu, where pilgrims receive Pre-Yatra blessings from the holy temples of Pashupatinath, Guheshwori Devi, Boudhanath, and Budhanilkantha. After visiting these holy temples, the journey continues into Tibet through the Kyirong border.

Every facet of this Kailash tour package for Indian passport holders journey has purpose so that all who join can complete the sacred 52 km Kailash Parikrama and receive the divine darshan of all four aspects of Lord Shiva's presence on the Kailash Parvat. The east face is crystal, the south face is sapphire (or lapis lazuli), the west face is ruby, and the north face is gold. Plus, you'll receive the great fortune of blessings from each of the four deities associated with Lord Shiva from the Hindu pantheon.

The Kailash Mansarovar Yatra is not only an adventure, but it is also a sacred journey of self-discovery that has transformed the lives of many people who have taken it for over 5,000 years. Mount Kailash is described within the ancient Hindu texts of the Skanda Purana, Vishnu Purana, and Shiva Purana, as the "Axis Mundi," or "the center of the universe." It is on Mount Kailash that Lord Shiva can be found meditating and living in connection with the universe. For all followers of Hinduism, Jainism, Buddhism, and Bon, the Kai Yatra represents the ultimate expression of their devotion and faith.

Our Kailash Mansarovar Yatra lowest cost 14 days Package offers the most convenient and efficient means of providing pilgrims with all necessary spiritual requirements. You'll arrive in Kathmandu and receive blessings from the temples of Pashupatinath, Guheshwori Devi, Boudhanath, and Budhanilkantha. Then you'll drive through Tibet via the Kyirong border crossing. This Kailash trip for Hindu Indians also allows you to complete the sacred 52 km Kailash Parikrama and receive darshan of all four faces of Mount Kailash: the crystal south face, the golden north face, the ruby east face, and the emerald west face, which together represent the deities of the Hindu religion.

With Kailash tour package for Indians from India you'll cross the vast Tibetan Plateau, where the heavens seem just a little above your head as you travel through verdant fields and visit sacred temples. You'll also drive along the incredible turquoise expanse of Peiku Tso Lake with the mighty Shishapangma Peak rising behind it and follow the banks of the sacred Brahmaputra River, which originates at Mount Kailash itself. At the ancient Chiu Gompa Monastery situated high above Lake Mansarovar, you'll witness the most stunning sunset imaginable. No photograph can truly replicate that experience. And before leaving Mansarovar, you'll bathe at sunrise by wading into the lake's icy, clear waters while reciting Om Namah Shivaya. It's an impression that every pilgrim carries in their heart for the rest of their lives.

The three-day Parikrama around Mount Kailash is both a physical and a sacred journey. It includes crossing the sacred Dolma La Pass at 5,600m and witnessing the Golden Kailash sunrise. Plus, there are many sacred places along the way, such as Gauri Kunda, known as the place where Goddess Parvati created Lord Ganesha. Every step on the trip to Kailash Mansarovar from India is walked in the aura of thousands of years of pilgrims who've come before you. You'll feel it with every step.

The fully inclusive package is INR 2,20,000 per person and includes all transportation, lodgings, vegetarian meals, guides, Sherpas, and emergency medical assistance. But most importantly, this journey is a reason to make a pilgrimage to Mount Kailash for devotional purposes and for the ultimate darshan of Lord Shiva. It's an experience that will permanently alter your being as a devotee.

How Many Faces of Mount Kailash Can You See During the Kailash Mansarovar trip 14 days package?

The South Face of Mount Kailash, The Crystal Face (Darshan at Darchen and Yama Dwar)

  • Associated deity: Lord Kuber
  • Colour: Crystal

The first sacred view of Kailash received by Indian pilgrims on the Kailash Mansarovar trip, 14 days package, is the south face, a monumental wall of mountain ice and rock towering above the village of Darchen. It's associated with Lord Kuber, the provider of abundance, and it's here that most pilgrims make their first emotional offerings at the feet of Mount Kailash. Don't be surprised if tears come naturally.

The North Face of Mount Kailash, The Golden Face (Darshan at Diraphuk)

  • Associated deity: Lord Shiva
  • Colour: Gold

The north face is the most revered of all four faces. At sunrise from Diraphuk, it shines in pure gold and produces one of the most awe-inspiring and emotional experiences for all Hindu pilgrims. The gold of the north face is a direct blessing from Lord Shiva himself.

The East Face of Mount Kailash, The Ruby Face (Darshan during the Sacred Parikrama)

  • Associated deity: Lord Indra
  • Colour: Ruby red

At dawn, as pilgrims ascend toward Dolma La on the sacred Parikrama, the east face glows with a deep red hue. It's associated with Lord Indra, and the beauty of this darshan is extremely rare. So take a moment to absorb it fully.

The West Face of Mount Kailash, The Emerald Face (Darshan during Descent from Dolma La Pass)

  • Associated deity: Lord Varuna
  • Colour: Emerald green

After the most difficult portion of the Kora, as pilgrims descend from Dolma La Pass, the west face of Mount Kailash reveals a tranquil green colour. It's associated with Lord Varuna, and after receiving this final darshan, pilgrims complete the entire sacred circumambulation of Lord Shiva on Kailash trip package from India for Indians.

Isha Kailash Yatra 2026 Cost vs Kailash Mansarovar ki Yatra for Indian Passport Holders

The estimated cost of an Isha Kailash Yatra 2026 will fall into a high price range of (INR 2,50,000 - INR 3,00,000 +). Current estimates indicate the cost to be (as a result of high logistics costs and increased operational costs of the Yatra) in the range of INR 3,00,000 in 2026.

The price of our Kailash Mansarovar temple darshan for Hindu Indians is lower than the Isha Kailash Yatra package and provides better value than the Isha Kailash Yatra package. The starting price for the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra from India is (INR 2,20,000). The Kailash Mansarovar Yatra Package from India includes all aspects of the Yatra, i.e., Permits, Accommodation, Meals, Transport, and Guides. (a comprehensive, inclusive package) to facilitate all Pilgrims in completing their Kailash Mansarovar Yatra without having to pay a premium.

Many seekers searching for low-cost alternate options to Isha Foundation packages want to experience the same critical aspects of Kailash Parikrama and Mansarovar Darshan as well as receive altitude assistance. Standard Kailash Mansarovar package prices generally range between INR 2,30,000 and INR 2,50,000. But group tours at a lower price can provide additional convenience and value compared with standard Indian pilgrim packages.

Most pilgrims will find the two main differences between budget-friendly options below INR 2,30,000 and standard options above INR 2,50,000 to be flexibility in what's included and overall cost. This package provides more value than just an organized, safe and affordable Yatra experience; it includes everything that makes up the pilgrimage itself without any of the extras typically associated with brand-name packages.

For most devotees, the primary difference hinges on pricing flexibility and inclusions. Our Himalaya Kailash Mansarovar 14 days from India package covers all the main points of the yatra experience at a reasonable price without a premium brand tag. So it's more value for money overall.

During this ceremony, you'll offer bilva leaves, raw milk, honey, and gangajal on the Shivalinga while chanting Shri Rudram. The priests perform the Pashupatinath aarti with fire and flowers. By receiving this aarti before going to Kailash, you'll have received the greatest blessing possible as a devotee of Shivalinga.

After the Shiva Abhishek, walk to the Guheshwori Devi Temple to perform the Devi puja and request Shakti's sacred protection during your high altitude journey. Next, head to Boudhanath Stupa to spin prayer wheels clockwise, reciting Om Mani Padme Hum a total of 108 times. In the evening, the group comes together for a final prayer meeting where coats are handed out, and everyone prays together for a safe Kailash Mansarovar temple darshan for Hindu Indians.

Your private A/C bus will leave at 7:00 am to take you and your travelling companions about 115-125 km away to the town of Syabrubesi or Timure. During your drive, you will travel through some of the most beautiful mountain landscapes that Nepal has to offer, including amazing views of the beautiful sacred river, the Trishuli River.

The lake has great significance owing to its source at the holy glacial Gosaikunda Lake, which is linked to Lord Shiva. Many pilgrims undertaking their Kailash Mansarovar ki Yatra for Indian passport holders take water from the Trishuli River in a copper vessel as an offering while travelling to Mt. Kailash.

As the road to Syabrubesi/Timure goes deeper into the mountain valleys and begins to ascend, you will leave behind the busy streets of Kathmandu and enter an area that is increasingly quiet and has a more raw, natural feel — the true beginning of your Kailash Parvat travel for Indian passport holders.

(Please note: If the Kyirong (Kyerong–Tibet) border is closed in 2026, the group will go through the other route at the Kodari/Zhangmu border (from Kodari) and stay at Kodari or Tatopani.)

As you enter Tibet, you will chant the name "Har Har Mahadev", which means Hail, Hail the Great God, a sacred first moment of your Kailash Mansarovar Yatra days package from India.

It's also a day to prepare both your mind and body for the next level of altitude at Lake Mansarovar (4,600m) and Mount Kailash (6,638m). Saga is a small, isolated town in Tibet on the northern banks of the Brahmaputra River, also known as the Yarlung Tsangpo, near the Tibetan-Indian border. It's generally very windy with no trees. Residents include yak herders and nomadic Tibetans who've been living here since time began.

Take a leisurely walk through the Saga market, observe how local Tibetans conduct their daily routines, and let your body adjust naturally to the altitude. Today, the medical kit will be checked, and emergency oxygen will be made available if needed, a service fully covered within the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra price for Indian pilgrims.

    • 4600m
    • 510 km
    • 9 hrs driving
    • Ascend 5 - 6 hrs Descend 3 - 4 hrs

For many pilgrims on this Mount Kailash Yatra 14 days for Indians, this is a day long-awaited. You'll drive 510 km through Tibet in the comfort of the deluxe Tibet bus to the holy Lake Mansarovar (4,600m), passing over the Mayum-La High Pass. At the pass, the group ties prayer flags and recites Om Parvati Pataye Har Har Mahadev until the wind catches them and blows them out into the vast space beyond. According to Hindu mythology, Lake Mansarovar was born of the mind (Manas) of Brahma, the God of Creation. Those who take a dip in its holy waters are said to remove the sins of a hundred lives and obtain Moksha.

Tonight you'll stay at Chiu Gompa, a 10th-century Tibetan Buddhist monastery dramatically perched on a rocky outcropping overlooking Lake Mansarovar. It offers breathtaking views of both the lake and Mount Kailash. The monastery was built around a sacred meditation cave used by Guru Padmasambhava in the 8th century. People of all faiths visit this site to pray, spin the prayer wheels, and sit in silence during their Kailash Mansarovar darshan tour for Indians at Chiu Gompa. A natural hot spring at the foot of the monastery is also believed to have healing properties. Don't miss it if you have a spare moment.

At sunset, meet at the lakeside for a deeply moving Mansarovar Sandhya Aarti. You'll light diyas on leaf boats and launch them into the lake while chanting the Shiva Chalisa under the open Himalayan sky, a defining evening of your Kailash trip package from India for Indians.

Useful Information

How to Go to Mount Kailash from India?

You have to cross into the Tibet Autonomous Region of China via Kathmandu to arrive at Mount Kailash from India, since it is impossible to reach Mount Kailash directly from India. There are three routes available for Indian pilgrims to choose from:

Route 1: Via Kathmandu, Nepal - Our Route

This is the easiest and most convenient option, allowing you to fly into Kathmandu and then travel to Tibet via the Kyirong border by vehicle. This route is appropriate for any age or fitness level, and is the route used by our Kailash Mansarovar Parvat trek from India for INR 220,000.

Route 2: Via Lipulekh Pass, Uttarakhand

The traditional MEA route of the Government of India, this is a strenuous, high-elevation trek through the Kumaon Himalaya into Tibet. You must win a spot through a lottery offered by the government. The entire journey usually takes about 21 - 25 days at an average price of 80,000 to 100,000 rupees.

Route 3: Via Nathu La Pass, Sikkim

Another government-owned and operated road-based route from Sikkim into Tibet, the Nathu-La route is less physically demanding than the Lipulekh route. However, you must still achieve entry through a lottery, and the total trip usually takes about 21 days.

Required Documents

To travel to Tibet, each individual who is an Indian pilgrim must possess an unexpired Indian Passport, Chinese Group Visa, Tibet Travel Permit, Alien Travel Permit and Military Area Permit. All of which are taken care of by our team when you purchase a group package. You'll be glad you don't have to sort that out yourself.

Best Time to Visit Kailash Mansarovar as an Indian (Month-by-Month Guide)

The best time to visit Kailash Mansarovar can really affect your trip. The pilgrimage season goes from May to September. So each month has different advantages and disadvantages.

May/June

In May and June, it's the beginning of the season. So there are not many other people there yet to see. This could be good for those who want a quiet Kailash yatra event. But there still may not be a lot of people there due to heavy snowfall at higher altitudes.

July/August

This is considered the busiest time of the year for visitors to visit the mountain. The Saga Dawa festival, which is the celebration of Buddha's enlightenment, is also held in July/August, making it a great spiritual time. You'll feel the energy of the crowd around you.

September

In September, temperatures begin to stabilize, and the amount of foot traffic begins to decrease, making for a beautiful time to visit Kailash Mansarovar. It's the best overall time to take part in a Kailash Mansarovar tour.

In October, all of the passes close due to snowfall on the mountains. So the Kailash pilgrimage season will end sometime in or before this month.

If you're traveling to climb Mount Kailash from India, we recommend the months of June and September as the best months because of the favorable weather, a lot of foot traffic to see, and some of nature's most beautiful scenery in the Himalayas.

Best Thing I Ever Did in My Retirement Years
4.45

Being 64 years old, I was apprehensive about accompanying a Kailash group tour. Classic Vacations Nepal guided me every step of the way. The acclimatization days were perfectly timed, the food was the purest of vegetarians throughout, and our guides never seemed anything less than endlessly patient. There was no more difficult and blessed moment in my whole life than crossing Dolma La.

Worth Every Single Rupee - Absolutely

We entered as a couple and came out entirely different. It was a great itinerary, balanced in travel/rest / spiritual experience over 14 days. No photo can capture the Golden Kailash darshan at sunrise from Diraphuk. The Classic Vacations Nepal team made us feel like family the entire time. Highly recommend it to everyone I know.
